Editorial Standards
The Digital Calculator is built to make everyday calculations easier to understand, not just faster to complete. Our calculator pages pair the tool with plain language context about inputs, formulas, assumptions and limitations.
What we publish
We publish free calculators and educational guides for everyday money, work, business, real estate, health, math, home projects, agriculture and other practical topics. The goal of each page is to answer a specific calculation need and explain enough context for a user to understand the result.
How calculator pages are reviewed
Calculator logic is checked against the mathematical relationship described on the page. We review labels, units, default values, result labels and explanatory text together so that the visible explanation matches the calculation being performed. Pages that rely on assumptions state that the result is an estimate.
How we handle changing information
Some calculations depend on information that can change, including tax rules, market rates, product coverage, lending standards and other external factors. We identify those limitations on the relevant page and encourage users to confirm current transaction specific information when it matters.
Health, tax and financial limitations
Health calculators are educational screening or planning tools and are not diagnoses. Tax and payroll calculators are estimates and may not reflect every filing, payroll or local rule. Financial and real estate calculators do not guarantee approval, investment performance or transaction outcomes.
Plain language over filler
We do not add text simply to make a page longer. Explanations should help a user understand what to enter, how the calculation works, what the result means or when an outside source is needed. Related calculators and guides are selected to help users continue the same task rather than to create unnecessary page views.
Corrections and feedback
If a user reports a problem, we review the calculator logic and the wording around it. Feedback can be sent through the contact page. When a correction materially changes a calculator or explanation, the page is updated so the tool and its supporting content remain consistent.
